    Volts multlplied time amps equals watts.

    If you give a motor 12 volts, and it draws 1 amp, it is absorbing 12 watts.

    The power output is about half of the power input. A motor that requires 12 watts of electrical energy to run at full power may develop (or put out) 6 watts of mechanical power.
